Ethiopia pet peeves

  1. The lack of attention to detail - buildings, work, half-assing everything
  2. Customer service - No one says hi welcome to x what can I get you started (min litazez) though it's getting better, workers aren't taught, owner also opened the shop out of boredom le medeberya, stems probably from the shitty wage.
  3. Over-hiring in simple cafe's - when a couple people would suffice...due to the cheap labor costs, employees overcrowd the biz, thus creating idle workers on the side chatting away not attending to customers.
  4. Not saying "I don't know" - engrained in us to say i know that for everything under the sun, lack of specializers, It's easy (qelal new) when in reality he knows jack shit. We need to Learn to say i don't know but let me find out
  5. Over-labeling/ Over-branding - from the shops in the mall, kiosks in the neighborhood to the watermarked photos online, and 30 second intro videos on ever online music. (hope entertainment, even mezmur)
  6. Thinking of each other መተሳሰብ/መጠበቅ - shortcut mentality - instead of waiting a minute drivers rather block intersections causing whole other chaos. double parking. triple parking. (especially near taxi loading/drop-off areas) city design failure.
